We enjoyed Buttermilk Falls, hiking Catamount XC Ski trail and Healdville Trail. The chalet was BEAUTIFUL and amazingly designed. Full kitchen, 10+ beds, supermarket just down the street, 10 mins from Okemo with a view of the mountain from the porch. If I were to design a ski chalet this is exactly how I would design it. Even has a bar off the mudroom! I hope we can come back someday and explore more.

Great place, especially for larger groups. Beautiful surroundings and very conveniently located. The listing is accurate and Bob is extremely attentive and easy to communicate with. He went an extra length by locating and mailing to us a set of headphones that we accidentally left at house. Overall Great experience!

You basically cannot and will not ever find a better host than Bob. He texts immediately, helps you find the best local outings and even got us the number to the urgent care when my daughter had a medical issue. The house is beautiful and so much fun to stay at, with everything you need. It’s an amazing value and big enough to host a party (when we are allowed to have parties again!) clean, comfortable and luxurious. We will be coming back for sure.

Beautiful spacious home, lots of wooded land to explore, hot tub and wood stove to warm up afterwards, plus Bob is amazingly organized and helpful - the whole experience was above and beyond our expectations! Great for our kids (ages 8 and 4) and I would imagine for kids of any age.

This house is ideal for a couple of families to share - perfect for kids - Lots of room for everyone to spread out - plenty of comfy beds. Great big kitchen and dining area with lots of plates & glasses & utensils & pots & pans. The hot tub was especially nice after skiing. We stayed over Presidents Weekend & skied at Okemo - a short few minutes drive away. No complaints at all - thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I rented this house for my husband and a few other couples in January 2020. I honestly don’t think the pictures do it justice. This is a wonderful home. There’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out, and the location is amazing. It was so cool to be in the hot tub and see the groomers on Okemo, getting the snow ready for the next day. The wood burning stove is so cozy. The kitchen is really well appointed, and the house is pretty high tech too! We loved being able to watch stuff on Netflix with a fire warming is up. I appreciated how clean the driveway was, it was well cleared and salted when we arrived. The owner Bob was very helpful and easy to reach. He had a lot of good suggestions of where to go and what to do! I didn’t have any problems during our stay, but I’m sure he would have been very responsive. Overall this is a great rental and I’d highly consider staying here again for another trip. We had a great time, and driving less than 15 minutes to the mountain is amazing. ...

This home was perfect for a large group of us looking to ski Okemo over a long weekend. Tons of space, plenty of beds, and everything was as described / how it looked in the pictures. The house also has huge living room windows that look out over the mountains - great view to wake up to! Bob (the owner) was very helpful and responsive and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay! Would definitely stay here again!

Although we never met in person, Bob was the nicest and most accommodating home owner we have ever dealt with. His place was perfect for our family’ holiday. The house was more than fully equipped and it is obvious that he and his family love it very much. The rural wooded location is lovely with a nice view of the Okemo ski area but still convenient to town. It didn’t snow while we were there but it seemed that vehicle access would not be a problem as the driveway has a gentle grade. We would be more than happy to go there again.

This was the 3rd time my friends and I stayed at The Bear Chalet for a long weekend and each time is better than the last. We love this house as it is a great house for hosting a large number of people, with amazing amenities for an extremely fair price. We only wish it was closer to where we all lived so we could vacation here more. Bob is the most responsive and helpful owner. I hope to be back again next year.

My group of 5 adults and one dog stayed here this past weekend. We loved everything about our stay. There was so much room to spread out or hide away if you wanted some quiet time. They have created the perfect space for groups of people to share. You could easily have two families with kids as well as another couple all in the house without feeling cramped. Having a fully appointed kitchen made cooking anything we could come up with a breeze. Since Ludlow is a quick under 10 minute drive from the house, we never felt like we were isolated and needed to prepare for every possible contingency. Ran out of OJ? Just run into town! The house is also far enough from town that you get to enjoy a wonderful view of the peak of Okemo as well as a massively starry sky at night. Standing on the deck and staring up at the Milky Way at night was hypnotic. Great dog friendly ski house with tons of extra beds and plenty of room for even the largest groups.
House was clean, inviting warm and a great place for our group of 12 adults and 2 dogs. The Loft could have slept another 6 easily enough and both common areas were able to accommodate us all comfortably as the space is much larger than it looks from the outside. Great mudroom for dropping off gear to keep the main floor clean and plenty of privacy with 2 Master suites with private baths and sitting areas, another private bedroom and then a bunk room for 6. The loft area on the top floor offers plenty of extra beds for over sized parties and the enclosed deck was great for both humans and pets as was the long drive keeping our pooches away from the road which is hardly traveled anyway. Stay with confidence as Bob was in constant contact and accommodated us at every turn offering both early check in and late check out as an added bonus.

First, Bob was absolutely wonderful to work with from the first message all the way through our stay. Second, the house was BEAUTIFUL. We were a small group to stay there (7) but loved the 3 bathrooms, plenty of space to sit and relax in the living room or on the porch, eat together at one table, gather around the island while someone cooked, etc. We could not have been more thrilled.

If you stay at any of Bob's locations, you can expect to be well taken care of. ANY of our needs received a prompt response and a diligent effort to meet our requests. There is plenty of space in a nice private location just a short drive to the center of town. There is plenty of parking. The home is fully furnished including kitchen items, games (board games, cornhole, pong, etc), fire pit, ceiling and floor fans, grills, deck table and chairs, and much more! If you stay here, you will not be disappointed.

We had a wonderful weekend at the bear hill chalet from the time we booked it Bob was very helpful and quick to respond. The house was very well equipped especially the kitchen. Beautiful property on a secluded Vermont country road. Would highly recommend if you are in the ludlow area. Thanks Bob for a wonderful family get away!!

Perfect way to celebrate the New Year!
We stayed here over New Year's with 2 other families (6 adults and 6 kids) and had a great time! Bob was easy to communicate with and the house is as advertised - comfortable, plenty of space, great kitchen and the mudroom is fantastic! Plus you can't beat the easy access to Okemo! Would definitely recommend this house.

Wonderful Christmas Destination
We stayed here over Christmas and could not have asked for a better place. The Chalet is just as advertised, with plenty of room for our family of five (plus our dog) to relax. The location is perfect for feeling "away", but is only a few miles to Okemo Mountain and the charming town of Ludlow.

Wonderful Family Home in Ludlow, VT.
Charming family home that was comfortable for 14 of us for Thanksgiving. Bob and Sue provided all the amenities necessary for a relaxing stay in the beauty of Ludlow, Vermont next to Okemo Mountain. Plenty of beds, sitting areas, and bathrooms all clean and comfortable. The kitchen had all the necessary tools for cooking and baking, 2 coffee makers (1 Kuerig and Drip), and plenty of seating for our big family. The owners Bob, Sue and their 2 sons even came by Thanksgiving morning when the firewood was low and loaded up the shed to ensure there would be enough the rest of the week. Wonderful hosts who answered all our questions quickly and ensured we had everything we needed. Beautiful views of Okemo Mountain out the big windows in the main floor living room. The bottom level room had a bar with a tv, couches, and a ping pong table for the kids, and the adults who wanted to feel like a kid. Outstanding home for big families. Would rent again f...

Perfect Ludlow Chalet near Okemo
We had a family gathering with eight of us and this house was a perfect fit. Plenty of beds and 3 full bathrooms. Everyone really enjoyed the place. Beautiful wrap around deck. Nice lot in a country setting with views of Okemo ski area. The place was very clean and the woodstove made the place very cozy. The owners Bob and Sue were very quick to respond. I would definitely go back to this rental.

Spacious home and great location for groups!
This home was perfect for our group! It had all the amenities and space needed for everyone to be comfortable. It located on the mountain with beautiful views and privacy from neighbors, and it is conveniently located near the town of Ludlow and Okemo Mountain.

Gorgeous place tucked away just enough to zone out and relax, town and markets are about a 10 min ride for las minute supplies or drinks, nice and clean home ,well equipped with pots, pans and utensils, even though I brought my own. I went with 2 other couples with kids and we fit perfect, FYI, in winter months must have a 4x4 vehicle! I went mis April and it snowed about 6inches, the little Honda was struggling ! Over all great place with plenty of beds, I would deff stay here again.

I stayed at the house for NYE weekend with a few other couples and we had the absolute best time! The house was amazing, the view of the mountain was incredible and overall we just loved the place! The drive to Okemo mountain and into town was one quick road away too! Couldn’t have asked for a better vacation away!

Peaceful and comfortable chalet we stayed at this property for 1 week in Feb 2018 with 15 people. During that stay we had 20 degree and 65 degree days - this house was always comfortable. massive mud room with tons of hanging storage for skis or clothes, storage bins, and a boot warmer. Downstairs rec room was great to keep our 9 kids entertained while the 6 adults enjoyed the upstairs family room and wood stove. The most responsive and helpful owners you could ask for. We could not locate the switch to turn on an outside light by the BBQ on the deck so we sent a text to Bob. 15 minutes later when the grill was ready and warmed up, I had instructions from Bob locating the light switch. He had already turned that light on remotely for me! Peaceful Mountain Chalet, Great Location, Perfect For Multiple Families We had a fabulous time staying at the Okemo Mountain Chalet. We were two large families (Totaling 16) on a ski vacation for a few days. The chalet was perfect. We had more than enough room and the accommodations exceeded our expectations. Bob and Sue were very responsive and helpful throughout the process. We definitely hope to return again.mp fire. Overall we totally loved the house, thanks to Bob and Sue for helping us make our family time even better!

Lovely home, great space, perfect location to ski from Okemo! We spent Easter vacation here, it was wonderful! The house is spacious and allows families to spend time together but roomie enough to have separation. Kitchen had everything we needed for meals and then some. We enjoyed the quiet, the view and the nature that kept us company and the owner was great, very responsive and helpful! Overall it was a really great trip, we loved coming back from skiing to go hot tubbing and hanging out by the camp fire. Overall we totally loved the house, thanks to Bob and Sue for helping us make our family time even better!

Wonderful Private Home Minutes From Downtown We and our guests had an amazing time at this chalet! From the views to the privacy we cannot say enough good things. Plenty of rooms and space for a large group! The hot tub was amazing and having a second bar/kitchen area really made everything so easy. Fourth year renting cabins for a large group in VT and this has been the best so far! We will be coming back next year!

Bob & Sue's Ludlow home is a hidden gem. The house is warm, comfy & wonderfully equipped with all the amenities you may need. It is literally "2 doors down" from the mountain access road, restaurants, cafes/bakeries, & ski rental shops. We couldn't have asked for a better "home base" for our family ski vacation. A big highlight was the new fireplace they have just installed. Bob was a wonderful communicator throughout the process & was readily available to answer any questions that came up! We opted for the extra linen service (not included in base price) & that was totally worth it! Looking forward to our return trip!

Bob's chalet was perfect for the ski trip I planned over the weekend at Okemo Mountain. The house was very close to the mountain ~10 minute drive. Best part is after a day of skiing and jumping straight into the hottub! The house was also very spacious and accommodated my family and friends comfortably. A major plus was a snowboard and ski rack in the mudroom with boot warmers! I would recommend and definitely stay for future ski/snowboard trips! Thanks Bob

Perfect Fall Getaway!
This home served us perfectly for a quiet late fall getaway. Plenty of space, mountain views, wrap around porch, hot tub, bar, game room, what else could you ask for! Made great use of the outdoor fire pit making s'mores etc with help from the fully stocked wood shed. An after dinner drink, game of ping pong and soak in the hot tub simply can't be beat. We have rented vacation homes similar to this but like many of the other other reviews express the highlight really has to go to the management. The home is beautiful and speaks for itself, but the overall attentiveness and consideration by the owners really stands out! The home is extremely well stocked and well thought out. Bob made the entire experience easy and professional, from check in to check out and anything in between. Was even prompt on the damage deposit refund. Thanks for a great stay Bob and Sue! Well done!

We loved it and hope you will have us back next year!! We have stayed at so many places over the years, not just in Vermont, and this has been the most pleasant experience by a mile! Kudos to you and your wife for coordinating everything a guest could possibly want for a wonderful stay. The whole process was simple and straightforward. If we had any suggestions it would be faster internet (some of us had to work)...though we were just happy to have internet since a lot of places don't have it. I'll be in touch next year!

We had a great time and are already talking about coming back next year. The house is great with an ideal layout for several families with kids and Ludlow is an awesome town. You and your wife also make for an easy and comfortable rental process with lots of information that reduces the fear of scams which are very common in the vacation rental market. Amazing! The pictures of this house do not do it justice!!! We spend a weekend away every year and this has been the best house yet! Not just because of the amazing house but also because of the location and wonderful owners. They were easy to get in touch with and answered all questions promptly. No problem with the (hot) tub at all. We had 4 little boys and just never got to use it. The skiing was so good we were just exhausted. Plenty of firewood in the rack - we did not use much. Only what filled the holder upstairs once. We loved the house. No problems at all. Great snowplower too! We would definately go back to Okemo! Great mountain!

Check out our new Property!
Our house has rented so well the last couple of years that we decided to buy another rental property. We have been looking for an in-town location and wanted an antique home that we could put our stamp on. We are very picky so it took awile but here it is. This classic Vermont Farmhouse is over 100 years old - back when there were farms in the center of Ludlow! We named our new house '2 Doors Down' because it is literally 2 Doors Down from the entrance to Okemo Mountain, the Killarney, shops, restaurants, Sweet Surrender Bakery, etc.
